I have played around with networking a lot in recent years, especially because my current house has 1Gb LAN ports in various rooms - this meant that setting up a proper mesh Wi-Fi system (with fully wired backhaul) was fairly straightforward. I have also played around with building my own HomeLab NAS (on the right) and having a 10Gb local network via a 10Gb Ubiquiti network switch:

A Synnology NAS, HomeLab NAS, 10Gb UniFi network switch and Eero Pro 6 mesh Wi-Fi point

Sorry the picture is a bit blurry, that was a screengrab from a video. More recently I have simplified things again, converting the Homelab NAS into a gaming PC and going back to 1Gb and 2.5Gb networking. However I do plan on going back to a 10Gb network at some point - it’s just that I wasn’t getting much benefit from it right now.
